Sis & hubby took out first mortgage to buy a house, then took out a second to fix the bathroom. now they want to walk away and leave the house not saying one word to the bank and move into an old 3 story house my brother-in-law owns and have it paid for in five years. they can’t go up and down stairs with the knee & health problems.
they will not listen to anyone or suggestions of moving into an apartment, double wide mobile home or moving into a retirement center.
will they suffer consequences once they walk? the payments are being met with no hardship.
personally i would sell the house and move where maintenance is minimal or non existent.
Of course, they do. Being on SSI is not excuse.
Sister & Husband both retire & on SSI, can they walk away from a mortgage and not have consequences?
