Are we still eligible for the first time home buyers tax credit?

My boyfriend and I want to purchase a home together. He has never owned, however I have in the past 3 years (tho not currently). Will he still be eligible to claim the first time home buyers tax credit, since we are not married and file our taxes separately? Or is he no longer eligible if my name is also on the mortgage as secondary?
Thank you.

Your name on the mortgage negates the first time home buyer requirement.

You would not be allowed to be a co borrower or even on the deed in order for him to claim it.

  3. you should NEVER buy real estate with someone you are not married to.
you might NOT qualify depending on exactly when you DID own reale state previously
