How to get a mortgage off my credit history if my info was stolen?

My wife found out a few days ago that someone had signed for a mortgage under her info in 2005, and now creditors are coming after her. How does she prove her info was stolen and she never used that money for nothing? She says she thinks someone took her drivers license for a few days and then returned it to the house of her ex-bf. Because she says she remembers her license coming up missing for about a week and then suddenly reappearing, but she thought nothing of it.

Someone also applied for a credit card in her name but I guess she is just kinda screwed on that.

Very, very easy. She needs to ask the lender for a copy of ALL of the mortgage documents that were signed at closing…even if she has to pay for it.

Then she needs to go to the police, report it for felony identity theft, and show a copy of her driver’s license, and they will compare her signature against every document on the mortgage loan.

However, I highly suspect your wife isn’t being honest with you. Her driver’s license just plain disappeared and someone knew who her ex-boyfriend was, and broke into his house too?

I smell a rat!

  1. contact the mortgage company and credit reporting agencies and explain the situation, they will look into the info they have and see if its fraud.

  2. I. As stated, notify all credit agencies and make sure it is put on Fraud Alert. You should both be on it.

2.Notify all parties in question and tell them she’ll sign a Affidavit of Fraud. If they refuse to accept, then it would be best to retain an attorney. Better to be safe than sorry.
